Trauma and Stroke Services Director

Position Summary

Under the direction of the TETAF CEO, the trauma and stroke services director will support TETAF’s Survey Service Line Division in the further development and maintenance of the trauma and stroke service lines. Working in conjunction with the survey operations manager, this position includes oversight of both the trauma and stroke survey process; including survey reporting tools, the survey medical record review tool; surveyor recruitment, retention, credentialing, and training; trauma and stroke education development, and provide support to the trauma and emergency health care system through the TETAF Advocacy Division. The trauma and stroke services director will provide quality assurance for the survey process through document updates, revisions as defined in the Texas Administrative Code, observations of on-site surveys as indicated, review and quality assurance of surveyor reports and record reviews, surveyor coaching as indicated and participation and collaboration with the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Job Requirements

1. Registered Nurse with current Texas licensure in good standing with The Texas Board of Nursing, BSN required, master's degree is preferred.

2. No less than five years of experience in trauma and acute care nursing and program management.

3. Surveyor experience a plus.

4. Previous experience in program development and quality assurance is required.

5. Excellent written and verbal communications skills to all levels of health care providers including nurses, physicians, and executive leadership.

6. Demonstrated group facilitation, collaboration with health care providers, problem solving, and analytical skills.

7. Highly motivated individual, self-starter with the ability to adapt to change, exercise initiative, and use independent judgment.

8. A working knowledge of Microsoft 365, PowerPoint, and some knowledge of Excel.

9. Ability to work remotely as a consultant, facilitator, and colleague with other TETAF/TPS staff and personnel at all levels of the organization is required.

10. Travel is required including site surveys, education events, staff meetings in Austin as requested and additional travel as needed.

11. A current Texas driver’s license is required.

Education Coordinator

Position Summary

The Texas EMS, Trauma & Acute Care Foundation (TETAF)/Texas Perinatal Services (TPS) Education Coordinator provides a contracted service to ensure TETAF meets all requirements as a healthcare education provider; provides educational coordination support for all TETAF and TPS educational events; provides support to outside organizations desiring continuing education; designs and conducts educational programs related to trauma, stroke, maternal, neonatal and data abstraction. Previous experience as an Education Coordinator is required.

Essential Functions/Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

1. Assure that the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of all educational programs presented by TETAF/TPS are aligned with the requirements of program participants and in consideration of the TETAF mission.

2. Develop, prepare, organize, and evaluate curricula for all TETAF educational programs ensuring appropriate standards and mission are met.

3. Assure the development of educational packets as required by the Louisiana State Nurses Association Approver Unit, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC), to ensure nursing participants are eligible for Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) education hours.   • Approved Provider Activity Planning Document
    • Activity Type
    • Educational Design Criteria Use
    • Learning Outcome and Measurement
    • Educational/Instructional Design

  • Attachments (i.e., conflict of interests, hours awarded, certificates, summative evaluation)

3. Provide written statements as needed for event flyers, agendas, TETAF website, and TETAF/TPS newsletters to appropriately market educational events in accordance with the requirements of the Louisiana State Nurses Association approver unit.

4. Develop post course questionnaire and provide link of questionnaire on Question Pro for participants prior to completion of educational activity.

5. Collect and analyze participant post course questionnaire/evaluations to determine course effectiveness, objectives are successfully met and faculty effectiveness to identify additional educational needs.

6. Design, send, and file post course certificates to participants.

7. Maintain all educational activity files electronically in accordance with the requirements of the Louisiana State Nurses Association for TETAF accessibility and for renewal of TETAF provider unit, but not limited to:

  • Approved Provider Activity Planning Document
  • Disclosure statements of faculty, if clinical activity
  • Outline/PowerPoint of educational activity
  • Summary of questionnaire feedback from Question Pro
  • Certificates

8. Concurrently update the Nursing Activity Reporting System (NARS) on educational activities completed.

9. Participate in monthly Louisiana State Nurses Association Provider Update meetings.

10. Provide quarterly reports to the TETAF/TPS Education Committee providing courses presented, number of participants, and satisfaction scores.

11. Participate in all faculty planning meetings as indicated for all TETAF/TPS sponsored educational programs.

12. Communicate effectively in the English language, in both oral and written forms.

13. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions in an independent manner.

14. Document detailed hours of educational activity development and post course activities and submit bimonthly or monthly to TETAF budget office.
